This 31st night, make resolutions for 2019, not 2018.
Tradition is to make resolutions every new year’s eve yet it’s a divided world when it comes to follow through those resolutions. University of Scranton has published a research paper that says only 8% of resolution makers follow through their new year resolutions. The very relevant questions here are– what makes some people successful in following through their decisions and what makes the majority give up? Which one are you and where do you want to be? Oprah Winfrey says ‘When I look into the future, it burns my eyes’ - what does that mean for you?
Three step strategy to be the navigator of your life:
For success, make long term goals - Successful planning requires a long term vision and a long term goal. “The best way to predict your future, is to create it” said Abraham Lincoln. 2017 is the time to start a journey to a goal, take charge, take responsibility of the outcome and start working towards it. Hence, it makes sense to make long term goals of 1,3 or 5 years because that gives you the flexibility to create your vision of your own story.
Stay committed – Are you interested in your goal or are you committed to it? Commitment is when you really want something. Interested is when you don’t really care. Not really. Commitment requires blood, sweat, tears. Are you ready to do that?
Take action, take action, take action – The third and final step is to work, work and work towards your vision. No one says it will be easy, no one says it will be quick, no one says there will not be moments of doubts and giving up - but once you see the fruit of your hard work, I promise you, you will not want to give up. George Mallory, Mt. Everest conqueror said, “it’s not the mountain we conquer, its ourselves”
Happy New Year !!!
